Dhikr: Finding Peace Through Remembering Allah
Dhikr means remembering Allah through words of praise, gratitude, and glorification. It is one of the simplest yet most rewarding acts of worship in Islam.
Muslims can practise Dhikr throughout the day, whether at home, at work, after Salah, or during quiet moments. It reminds us of Allah's blessings, strengthens our faith, and helps us remain connected with our Creator.
Dhikr in the Quran
Allah says:
أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
"Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured."
(Surah Ar-Ra'd: 28)
This verse reminds us that remembering Allah brings tranquillity to the heart and helps believers find comfort through their faith.
How to Practise Dhikr Every Day
1. Remember Allah After Salah
Take a few moments after your prayers to praise Allah and remember Him. Make this a regular part of your daily worship.
2. Use Simple Words of Remembrance
Repeat beautiful phrases such as:
SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah).
Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah).
Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest).
Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness from Allah).
3. Remember Allah Throughout Your Day
Make Dhikr part of your daily routine. Remember Allah when you wake up, before sleeping, and during your everyday activities.
The Beauty of Dhikr
Dhikr helps Muslims develop gratitude, strengthen their faith, and find peace during difficult moments. It reminds us that Allah is always worthy of our praise and that remembering Him should be part of our daily lives.
Even a few sincere moments of Dhikr can become a meaningful habit that brings us closer to Allah.
At Thughr Academy, we believe that understanding Islamic worship helps learners build stronger faith and develop lasting habits that bring Islamic teachings into everyday life.
