Kindness to Parents: A Path to Allah's Pleasure
Kindness to parents is one of the most important values in Islam. Parents make great sacrifices to raise their children, care for them, and provide them with love and support. Showing them respect, gratitude, and kindness is a beautiful way to honour their efforts.
Islam teaches Muslims to treat their parents with compassion, speak to them politely, and care for them, especially as they grow older.
Kindness to Parents in the Quran
Allah says:
وَقَضَىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا إِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًا
"And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment."
(Surah Al-Isra: 23)
This verse highlights the great importance of treating parents well and connects kindness to them with the worship of Allah.
How to Show Kindness to Your Parents
1. Speaking Respectfully
Always choose kind and gentle words when speaking to your parents. Avoid raising your voice or responding with anger, even when you disagree.
2. Helping Them
Offer your help with daily responsibilities and try to make their lives easier. Small acts of kindness can mean a lot.
3. Making Dua for Them
Remember your parents in your prayers and ask Allah to bless them, forgive them, and reward them for everything they have done for you.
The Beauty of Honouring Parents
Being kind to our parents teaches us gratitude, humility, and compassion. It strengthens family relationships and reminds us to appreciate the people who have cared for us throughout our lives.
